Introduction

AFGenie's Document Builder lets you create professional document templates with custom fields and branded layouts. Design templates for discharge summaries, lab reports, invoices, forms, and any structured documents your business needs. Generated documents are exported as PDFs and can be automatically indexed to your bot's knowledge base for instant retrieval.

Creating document templates

Build reusable templates with custom fields, branded headers/footers, and structured layouts. Access the Document Builder from your dashboard's Bots & documents tab.

  • Go to Dashboard > Document Builder tab

  • Click "Create Template" button

  • Choose template type (Form, Invoice, Proposal, Report, etc.)

  • Add your company logo and branding

  • Define custom fields (text, number, date, dropdown, etc.)

  • Set field validation rules

  • Configure field labels and placeholders

  • Save and activate template

Field types & configuration

Add custom fields to capture specific data types with validation rules and placeholder text. Each field has a label, unique key, type, and optional required flag.

  • Text: Single-line text input

  • Long text: Multi-line textarea for detailed content

  • Number: Numeric input with validation

  • Date: Date picker field

  • Currency: Monetary values

  • Checkbox: Yes/no or true/false values

  • Dropdown: Predefined options list (e.g., Male/Female/Other)

  • Table: Structured data in rows and columns

  • Set placeholders to guide data entry

  • Mark fields as required for mandatory data

Layout blocks & document structure

Arrange your document content using layout blocks. Drag blocks to reorder, insert headings, text, fields, tables, dividers, and signature blocks to create professional document layouts.

  • Heading: Large section titles

  • Subheading: Smaller section headers

  • Text: Static text blocks with field interpolation

  • Field: Display custom field values

  • Table: Structured data presentation

  • Divider: Horizontal line separators

  • Signature: Signature field placement

  • Reorder blocks with Move up/down buttons

  • Use {{fieldKey}} syntax to insert field data in text blocks

Letterhead & branding

Customize document appearance with branded letterheads including organization name, logo, tagline, address, contact details, and accent colors.

  • Upload organization logo

  • Set organization name and tagline

  • Add full address details

  • Configure email and phone contact

  • Add website URL

  • Choose accent color for branding (#hex format)

  • Letterhead appears on all generated documents

  • Consistent branding across document types

AI-powered template assistant

Use the built-in AI helper to design templates from descriptions or images. The AI analyzes your requirements and generates complete templates with appropriate fields and layouts.

  • Click AI helper in template editor

  • Describe the document type you need

  • Upload sample document images for reference

  • AI creates template structure automatically

  • AI suggests appropriate field types

  • AI generates layout blocks

  • Review and customize AI-generated template

  • Refine with follow-up prompts

  • AI learns from existing templates in your workspace

Generating documents

Fill in template fields to create documents. Select a base template, enter data, preview, and export as PDF or push to your bot for indexing.

  • Go to Documents tab in Document Builder

  • Click New button

  • Select base template from dropdown

  • Fill in required and optional fields

  • Preview document layout

  • Export PDF for sharing

  • Push to bot to auto-index to knowledge base

  • Save document for future reference or editing

PDF export & distribution

Generated documents are exported as professional PDFs with your branding, ready for printing, email, or digital distribution.

  • Click Export PDF button

  • PDF includes letterhead and branding

  • Professional formatting applied automatically

  • Download to local device

  • Share via email or messaging

  • Print-ready format (A4 or custom size)
